Expert Gum Recession
Treatment in Seal Beach
Receding gums can age a smile, making you look prematurely old. It can also cause root sensitivity and expose your teeth to decay. Dr. Aslam uses minimally invasive techniques to replace lost gum tissue and prevent further recession from occurring.
What Causes Gum Recession?
Gum recession is the exposure of the tooth roots caused by gum tissue retracting. It can be caused by a number of factors, including gum disease, teeth that are misaligned, teeth grinding, overly aggressive brushing or flossing or even genetic factors. As the gums recede, the tooth root—which lacks the protective enamel coating of the visible tooth surface—is exposed, leaving the root more prone to damage, decay and infection.
Minimally Invasive Techniques
Dr. Aslam is highly trained and experienced in treatments that are proven to comfortably and successfully treat gum recession. He uses microsurgical instruments and minimally invasive methods whenever possible. This results in far less discomfort for the patient, faster healing and long-lasting results.
When recession is severe, Dr. Aslam incorporates the use of Emdogain® growth factors. These stimulate the body’s regeneration of new gum tissue and help improve the end result.
